How to become a Street Chaplain

RECRUITMENT

STREET CHAPLAINS are looking to recruit people (18+) who have a desire to make a significant difference in their communities. Volunteers are recuited either from the church community or from the wider community with people who share in the vision and values of the organisation. To provide help and support to those who are in need and vulnerable, or simply to connect with others.

All volunteers receive free training that covers all the essential aspects of the work. This training is delivered by professionals who bring expertise and insight into the challenges that are faced in North Staffordshire.

Each volunteer receives a uniform that is worn whilst on patrol.

Each volunteer becomes part of the dedicated team who work on patrols at least one a month or more. This involved both night time and day time patrols.

Street Chaplains works out of a city centre lounge venue, in Hanley which provides an excellent base to work from as it reaches out into the city.

How to Apply

To apply, call Steve Russell (see "contact us" page) to have an informal discussion. Should a new enquirer want to then proceed, then there is an opportunity for them to join a team on patrol as an "Observer". Any new applicant will need to complete an application form (incl: DBS check). Once this has been completed then an applicant will be enrolled on the training programme, along with other new volunteers.

Personal references will be required.
